 All students taking Arts & Communications courses are encouraged to join Skills/ USA. Art and Applied Art relates to Performing Arts; Graphic Design relates to Printing Technologies; and Photographic Art relates to Printing Technologies, Journalism, Broadcasting, and Film. 

Visual Communications #5759

Grades 10-12 Credit: 1

Materials Fee

This course provides a foundation in aesthetic concepts and applies those concepts to the visual art. design, and photography industries. Students are introduced to the photography with film and digital cameras. Lighting, indoor and outdoor portraits and action photography are covered. Black and white film processing is taught and the foundation in aesthetic concepts are applied to the visual art, design, and printing used in the photography industry. Content is also related to other programs of study. 

Honors Visual Communication #5759-2

Grades 10-12 Credit: 1

Materials Fee

This class focuses on the same topics as the Visual Communications course; however, this class requires more reading, writing, and analytical thinking skills.   

Digital Design & Imaging #5762

Credit: 2 Grades: 11-12

Materials Fee

This course covers the principles of design and layout procedures. Content will cover electronic systems and software programs used in graphic design, page composition, image conversion, and digital printing. Advanced knowledge and skills in digital design and imaging will be enhanced in a graphic communication production lab.
