Rehabilitative Therapy #5503

Grades 10-12 Credit: 1

Prerequisite: Health Science Education

Rehabilitative Therapy provides career options, diagrams human structure, and describes human functions. This applies appropriate multi-disciplinary therapies for medical conditions and rehabilitation.

Health Science Education #5504

Grades: 9-12 Credit: 1

This course will include basic health care information on services/products related to the health of people or animals. Subject matter will include career choices, skill development, and application of health concepts relative to becoming a health care professional. This course should be taken prior to other Health Science classes.  

Medical Therapeutics #5506

Grades- 10-12 Credit: 1

Prerequisite: Health Science Education

Therapeutic functions involve a variety of treatment or changes in the health status of the client overtime. These regimes are designed to help clients get well, manage a handicap or maintain their health. 

Nursing Education #5507

Grades: 10-12 Credit 1

Prerequisite: Health Science Education

This course consists of 18 units of study dealing with direct bedside nursing care. clinical experience will consist of supervised practice in the nursing home as well as demonstrations in the classroom Students can be registered by Tennessee Department of Health after the completion on the course. 

Anatomy and Physiology #5509

Grades: 10-12 Credit: 1

This designed for students to develop an understanding and functioning of the human body. This course may count as a science credit for graduation. 

Emergency Medical Services #5510

Grades: 10-12 Credit: 1

Prerequisite: Health Science Education.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teaches knowledge of the emergency medical field, including duties, responsibilities and legalities, as well as skill development in patient assessment, communication, first aid measures, and the use of emergency medical equipment.

Clinical Internship #5501

One Credit Grades 11-12

Prerequisites: Health Science and one course listed below

Students may choose to complete a clinical internship after completing Medical Therapeutics, Diagnostic Medicine. Health Infomatics, Support Services, Rehabilitative Therapies, Nursing Education, or Emergency Medical Services. The internships are designed to be completed in a hospital, nursing home, rehab center, medical office, or other health care facility.

Dual Emergency Medical Services #5510-2

Grade: 11-12 Credit: 1 High School and 3 semester hours of college credit

Prerequisite: Health Science Education.

Medical Diagnostics #5511

Grades: 10-12 Credit: 1

Prerequisite: Health Science Education

Medical diagnostics provides a look at the patients and ways to gather information to create a picture of the client's health status. 

Forensic Science #5514

Grades: 11-12 Credit: 1

Materials Fee

Prerequisite Health Science Education.

This course is an overview of the science of solving crimes. Topics include history of forensic science, collecting evidence, analyzing results and hands-on application of laboratory techniques.

Honors Forensic Science #5514-2

Grades: 10-12 Credit: 1

Materials Fee

Prerequisite: Health Science Education

This class focuses on the same topics as the Forensic Science course; however, this class requires more reading, writing, and analytical thinking skills.
